Domain Frequently asked Questions
What is a domain name?
A domain name uniquely identifies a web site on the internet. Domain names consist of
characters "a" through "z" (case-insensitive), the digits "0" through "9", and
hyphen. Your domain name must be registered before it can be used to access your web site
from the internet. Webhost4biz will register a new domain name as part of your web site
setup and the cost is included in the cost of the annual web hosting charge.
Should I choose .com or .co.uk?
.com (commercial) domains were officially intended for commericial global companies but
there has been no restriction on who can register a .com domain. Companies in the United
Kingdom traditionally register .co.uk domain. However, the choice of whether you choose
one or the other or both types of domain name is yours. Webhost4biz will register a single
domain name of your choice. There is an additional charge for registering more than one
domain name for your web site.
I already have a domain name registered. Can it be used?
Domain names can be transferred between Internet providers and there is normally
a charge for doing this. Webhost4biz can provide you with help on how to transfer
a domain name so that it can be used to access your web site.
