Using the Website Editor

Opening the editor

The web site editor is opened by accessing the /edit url of your web site as shown in the following example:

The editor page is password protected requiring you to enter your User Name and Password. These details are emailed to you when the web site is initially setup.

Using the editor

The web site editor window consists of 3 areas. The upper horizontal area is a toolbar strip and the left area is a navigation pane. The right central area is used to edit and display a page selected from the navigation pane.

  • To view a page, simply click on the name of the page in the navigation pane.
  • To edit a page, select the page in the navigation pane and press the edit page button. Alternatively, right click on a page in the navigation pane and select Edit from the popup menu.
  • The web site is a collection of pages with the Home page as the Start Page of the web site. To edit the Home page, select Start Page in the navigation pane and press the edit page button. (Note: there is a Home page beneath the Start Page in the navigation pane and this is a Redirect page that allows Home to be displayed in the web site main menu.)
  • To save changes made to a page, press the "Save and publish" button.

Adding a new page

In the following example a new page called Test has been added under "Start Page" and two sub pages have been added under the Test page. To add a top level page such as Test, select "Start Page" in the navigation pane and press the "add new page" button. Give the new page a title, enter it's content and press the "Save and publish" button.

Inserting a picture or image

The process of adding an image to a page is a 2 stage process that involves a) uploading the image to the server and then b) inserting the image into the page as follows.

Step 1: Press the upload button in the toolbar to display the File Manager and then press the Upload link shown circled below.

Step 2: Press the "Upload" button shown circled below to display the File Manager browse screen.

Step 3: Select a file for uploading by pressing the "Browse" button shown circled below and choose a file from your pc or mac. In the example below the file Palm-trees1.jpg has been choosen. To start the file upload to the server press the Upload button shown circled below.

Once an image has been uploaded to the server it can be added to a page on your web site as follows.

Step 4: Select the web page in the navigation pane and press the edit page button to display the page shown below. Select where you want the image inserted by clicking in the main text area. Press the "Insert/edit image" button to display the "Insert/edit image" dialog box. Press the "select image" browse button circled below to select the uploaded image from the file manager. Finally press the Insert button in the "Insert/edit image" dialog box to insert the image into the page
